Safety Courses and Licensing

Recently, numerous states have implemented mandatory boating training and the requirement to carry a boat operator card, obtained by writing a competency test.
In Canada such training programs and licensing requirements are already in place.

Whether you are in the USA or Canada these safe boater experts can help you stay current with the regulations. Here is a little background.

In Canada:
A Safe Boater Training Program was established in 1999 in response to federal legislation requiring all persons operating a boat in Canada, to have certification. The Safe Boater Team is a Canadian Coast Guard accredited "provider" of this certification, through the issuance of Pleasure Craft Operators Cards that are valid for life. The Safe Boater Team consists of over 200 representatives and test centers across Canada. Highest quality manuals, materials, courses and testing - are all part of the Safe Boater program. Experienced boaters can take the test online. www.SafeBoater.com

In the USA:
As programs are developed, the Safe Boater team will be monitoring requirements and posting them on the link below to keep American boaters informed.
